Hospitality Installation
As part of the historic Westin Book Cadillac Detroit renovation, Elevation Living Walls contributed specialty installation expertise for living wall and botanical feature elements designed to support a refreshed hospitality experience inside one of Detroit’s landmark hotels.
The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit is one of the city’s most recognized hospitality landmarks. Its recent renovation renewed guest rooms, meeting spaces, public areas, and dining experiences while honoring the property’s historic character and role in downtown Detroit.
Within that larger transformation, botanical wall features helped soften architectural spaces, introduce natural texture, and create memorable moments for guests moving through the hotel.
Hospitality living wall projects require more than a beautiful concept. They require field coordination, system knowledge, installation discipline, and an understanding of how plant material, irrigation, structure, and finish details come together inside a commercial environment.
For this project, Elevation’s contribution centered on bringing the living wall system and botanical feature concepts into a buildable, installed reality while coordinating within an active, design-driven hotel renovation.
The project included both living wall installation work and faux botanical wall elements used in architectural niches throughout the property. These different approaches allowed the design team to introduce greenery, texture, and visual softness in multiple conditions across the hotel.
In hospitality environments, this combination can be especially useful. Living plant systems bring vitality and movement, while preserved or faux botanical elements can support visual continuity in areas where light, water, maintenance access, or construction constraints make live planting less practical.
As with many living wall projects, the final appearance depends on more than installation alone. Plant selection, nursery quality, local growing conditions, maintenance, and periodic replanting all shape long-term success.
The installed system provided the structure for the wall to continue evolving. With ongoing care and plant refreshes, the feature has grown into the kind of lush hospitality moment the space deserved.
The Westin Book Cadillac renovation was part of a larger effort to refresh one of Detroit’s iconic hospitality properties for a new era. Public reports described upgrades to guest rooms, meeting space, public areas, and dining experiences, with The Gettys Group involved in the design transformation.
